Family dental, in plain English.
Two dentists. Twelve years. One operational promise: quote before we start.
How we operate
Twelve years. Haven’t gotten it wrong yet.
We opened in 2014 because Mia had spent four years working under partners who’d quote one number to a patient and bill another to insurance. She didn’t want to run a practice that way. Caleb joined in 2018 with a pediatric residency and the same allergy to surprise bills. The math has been the same since: tell the patient the number before you touch the tooth. Bill the same number after.
What that looks like in practice: every cleaning visit ends with a 5-minute treatment-plan review. If we found something, we tell you what it is, what we’d do, what the line-item cost is with and without your insurance, and what your options are if you’d rather wait. You leave with a printed estimate and an open invitation to call back with questions. Sixty percent of our crowns go to “let me think about it for a week” before they get scheduled, and we treat that as the right call, not a lost sale.
The hard part of running a small practice isn’t the dentistry. It’s the operational discipline of staffing a front desk during normal human hours, returning phone calls the same day, and never quoting a number we won’t bill. Twelve years; haven’t gotten it wrong yet.
Who you’ll see
Meet Mia and Caleb.
Two dentists, both DDS. Where they trained, what they focus on, and the rule both brought to the practice.

Founder · 2014
Dr. Mia Whitman, DDS
DDS · AACD-accredited · Kois Center alumna
University of Washington
Founded the practice in 2014 after four years working under partners who'd quote one number to a patient and bill another to insurance. Cosmetic + restorative focus — smile design, Invisalign, veneers, crowns — with AACD accreditation.
Focus: Adult cosmetic + restorative · general family

Partner · 2018
Dr. Caleb Reed, DDS
DDS · Pediatric residency, Children's National
Oregon Health & Science University
Joined as partner in 2018 to expand pediatric capacity. Pediatric residency at Children's National in DC. Runs the Saturday clinic 8am–1pm — kid checkups, sealants, behavior-modeled gentle care. Same allergy to surprise bills as Dr. Whitman.
Focus: Pediatric (age 1+) · general family · sleep dentistry
The supporting team
Four hygienists, two assistants, one admin team.

Mia and Caleb do the dentistry. The hygienists run cleanings + preventive education + the kid-friendly framing for first visits. The assistants run the chair-side workflow. Admin runs the front desk + insurance verification + billing. Everyone has the same number-before-treatment rule — no one in the practice can quote one number and bill another. The discipline is the whole job.
Front desk hours · 8am–7pm Monday through Friday · 8am–1pm Saturday for the kids’ clinic and select adult appointments. After-hours emergencies route to an on-call dentist via the main number — not a triage call center.
