Common questions
Things we hear most.
About the practice
How long have you been in practice?
Founded in 2014 by Dr. Mia Whitman; Dr. Caleb Reed joined as partner in 2018. Twelve years and counting.
Do you see both kids and adults?
Yes. Family-and-cosmetic practice; we share patient load across both dentists. Dr. Reed handles the bulk of pediatric care (ages 1+); Dr. Whitman handles adult cosmetic + restorative. Both do general family work.
Pricing + insurance
Do you accept my insurance?
See the Insurance & Pricing pagefor the named-carrier list (18 carriers as of 2026). If yours isn’t listed, call us; we’ll confirm in 60 seconds.
Will I know the cost before treatment?
Yes. Every treatment plan is written and quoted line-item-by-line-item before we start. The quote is what you pay after insurance.
What if I don't have insurance?
Smile Club: $375/year for adults, $245/year per child age 6+. Covers two cleanings, two exams, and X-rays + 15% off other treatments. No claims paperwork. Details on the Smile Club section.
Appointments
How soon can I get a cleaning appointment?
Currently 2–3 weeks out for routine cleanings; same-day for emergencies (call by 11am for confirmation by 6pm).
Saturday hours?
8am–1pm. Primarily pediatric checkups + select adult work that needs weekend scheduling.
Do you take walk-ins?
For emergency triage, yes. For routine work, please call ahead so we can hold the chair.
For families
What age can my kid start coming?
Age 1+, per AAPD guidance. First visit is a “happy visit” — chair-time familiarization, no treatment.
Are exams covered for kids under 6?
Yes — through most insurance carriers, twice yearly without copay. Smile Club covers them too.
Do you use sedation for kids?
Behavior-modeled gentle care first; nitrous oxide (laughing gas) available for specific cases where it’ll help. No oral sedation for kids without a specialist referral.
Cosmetic
Is cosmetic work covered by insurance?
Generally no — cosmetic is cash-pay. Some restorative work (crowns, implants) is partially covered. The quote will spell out what’s covered vs. cash-pay before you commit.
Do you offer financing for cosmetic?
Yes. CareCredit+ in-house payment plans available. We’ll walk through the options at the consult.
